Welcome! Bienvenidos! Hey y'all!

Writing makes me nervous, much in the same way as does making big decisions, especially dealing with money or my future. At this point, I don't think I could be much more nervous, so I guess it's only appropriate to be starting a blog. Also, it will be my primary source of contact with most of my friends and family for the next couple of months. We'll get to that later.

I should begin by explaining how I got to this point. In May of this year, my job fell victim to the lagging economy. As I pondered my options for the the future--jobless, single and with an soon-to-be expired lease on my apartment in Nashville--the decision became clear that this could be the change direction completely. It was a time for a great adventure. I have always dreamed of traveling Europe and had even been filling my piggy bank for that special trip. After much deliberation, I decided to take the leap and make this trip a reality, despite the lack of one component: a travel companion. So here I am, a 24-year old farm girl from Paris, Tennessee, heading out to experience the world on her own.

Beginning August 11, I will be visiting 8-10 countries, including cities such as Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris (the one in France), Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Florence, Venice, Vienna, and even a stop in Munich for Oktoberfest, all in the course of 8 weeks. I'll post a map soon so you can follow me.
